PYROTEK INC. RECEIVES TRAINING GRANT FOR NEW PROCESS, ONLY KIND IN AMERICA

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (January 28, 2020) – Pyrotek Inc. announced that four new jobs will be created to support a new manufacturing process at its plant in Columbia City, where it’s producing one of the company’s newest products for the aluminum industry.

Pyrotek is a global company headquartered in Spokane, Washington, with operations in more than 30 countries worldwide. In 2016, Pyrotek chose Columbia City as the manufacturing location for new molten metal filtration technology.

The latest process includes special proprietary processing developed by Pyrotek. The Columbia City manufacturing plant will be the only facility in North America to make this product.

“There are exciting things happening here,” said Dave Scott, Pyrotek’s Operation’s Manager for the Columbia City location. “We’re currently hiring and looking forward to using this training grant to provide on-the-job training for continual maintenance and expanding the knowledge and skills of our current and new employees.”

The Whitley County Redevelopment Commission approved a $17,000 training grant at the request of the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

“The Redevelopment Commission is pleased to provide assistance to help upskill our local workforce,” said Jim Argerbright, President of the Redevelopment Commission.

The new process brought to Columbia City by Pyrotek will require additional training of the workforce and allow Pyrotek to train eight employees.

“Increasing the supply of talented employees for the county is a priority for the EDC,” said Jon Myers, Whitley County EDC President. “We are pleased Pyrotek has chosen its Columbia City location to introduce its cutting-edge technology and manufacture a new line of products. The training funds being provided by the County will benefit both the company and our local labor force.”
