PRECISION PLASTICS TO EXPAND IN COLUMBIA CITY AND ADD 32 NEW JOBS
COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (June 27, 2017) – Local manufacturing business, Precision Plastics, Inc., recently announced plans to expand its facility, adding new equipment and 32 new jobs.
Precision Plastics, located at 900 W. Connexion Way in Columbia City, started in 1955 with just two employees and two injection molding presses. Now, the company operates in an 87,000-square-foot facility, has more than 185 employees, and is one of the top 10 largest employers in Whitley County.
Precision Plastics provides high-quality, and highly engineered molded components for an array of industries including: automotive with products ranging from airbag safety components to interior cosmetic covers; industrial products such as agricultural and pump components; aerospace and defense products, and consumer products such as caps and shipping cases. Precision Plastics provides customers with a full-service approach through its thorough engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing services. The company prides itself on its lean manufacturing, 99% on-time delivery, quality and cost.

The company will add new equipment including several injection molding machines, and will also build an 11,900-square-foot warehouse for additional space.

The City of Columbia City approved a ten-year tax abatement in support of the project, at the request of the Whitley County EDC. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is offering up to $150,000 in conditional training grants from the Skills Enhancement Fund, and Northeast Indiana Works will assist with on-the-job training scholarships, computer and core competency training, and customized recruitment and employment services.
