FORT WAYNE, Ind. – A delegation of 11 Northeast Indiana business leaders and economic development professionals, led by the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, recently traveled to New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia to conduct the region’s second “Major Markets” trip. The goal was to connect with corporate decision makers and aggressively expand Northeast Indiana’s presence in these strategic East Coast markets.

Over the course of four days, the team completed 43 meetings with business decision makers and location influencers in the three East Coast markets. The trip capitalized on the recently-launched air service from Fort Wayne International Airport to Newark Liberty International Airport.  The Regional Partnership also partnered with Indiana Michigan Power to attend the CoreNet Global Summit, meeting with decision makers attending the conference in Philadelphia.  Additionally, the Regional Partnership collaborated with Vera Bradley to host a reception at Vera’s new flagship store in SoHo and welcomed more than 25 guests.

The delegation included:

“Our mission is to build, market and sell Northeast Indiana to increase business investment, and this Major Markets trip to the East Coast directly advances that mission. As our second Major Markets trip of the year, we’re implementing a tenacious business plan that allows us to tap into strategically-chosen major markets and increase awareness of Northeast Indiana assets with corporate decision-makers. We are expanding our reach and growing the amount of high quality business projects in our region thanks to the collaborative efforts of these Major Markets trips,” said Alan Tio, senior vice president of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.

The Major Markets Strategy is being implemented by the Regional Partnership to accelerate the number of business leads for the region. The strategy’s key components include: focusing on cities with a concentration of one or more of Northeast Indiana’s target industries; involving multiple regional stakeholders to represent the region; and adding a talent attraction function to our business development outreach.
