CHROMASOURCE EXPANDING LOCAL OPERATIONS
COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (July 25, 2019) –Locally owned ChromaSource Inc. announced plans to expand their operations in Columbia City.
ChromaSource currently employs more than 150 employees at its facility on U.S. 30 and plans to add additional employees to meet the growing demand for its products.
ChromaSource is a supplier of color systems and color cards for several national paint suppliers. The company is adding state-of-the-art collating equipment to increase productivity to meet the increasing demand for their products.
“There is only one other collator like this in the United States,” said Chromasource CEO, Jason Brooks. “We are experiencing unprecedented growth at ChromaSource and we plan to hire and train employees who are interested in learning the skills to operate the new equipment and be a part of our growth.”
The new collator and employees to run the equipment will increase the productivity of the facility by addressing a current bottleneck in the manufacturing process. Other employees will be needed throughout the plant to handle the increased workflow through the facility. As the company continues to grow current production, it will also have the capacity to compete for additional product lines.

At the request of Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), the Whitley County Redevelopment Commission approved a training grant of $20,000 in lieu of tax abatement to assist with the cost of training the new employees and current employees. The training grant allows for Whitley County to invest in the local workforce and upgrade the skills of local residents.
”Although tax abatements are a tool we often use to incentivize the growth of businesses in Whitley County, the County Redevelopment Commission recognizes that there are other tools that may have a greater impact, not only the company but for the community at large,” said Jim Argerbright, Chairman of the Whitley County Redevelopment Commission. “This is one instance where we felt that investing in the local workforce to operate state-of-the-art equipment will be good for everyone.”
