Grace Hurst Joins Whitley EDC As Fall Intern

Grace Hurst

As a daughter, sister, and middle child, it is safe to say I’ve learned a thing or two. Most importantly, the stereotypes of a middle child aren’t always accurate.

Hi! My name is Gracie Hurst. I am currently a senior at Columbia City High School, as well as a runner on their girl’s track team. Besides running, I like to read, go to sports games, hang out with my friends, and do anything that involves being outside. My latest fixation has been baking and watching Harry Potter. I also am a member of New Hope Wesleyan Church and have been attending there since I was young.

I started working for the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) in the fall of 2022 as an assistant to the Marketing Director. I started interning here for school to gain more knowledge of the business/marketing realm of careers since that is what I’m looking to do beyond high school. My job consists of tasks that give me a thorough knowledge of what I’d be studying in my further education.

Prior to the Whitley EDC, I worked, and am still currently working as a lifeguard at the Fahl Aquatic Center in Whitley County. As a definite people person, lifeguarding was an enjoyable summer job.

Along with lifeguarding, I also work hard in my sport. While in track, I have earned the IHSAA Academic All-State Honorable Mention title, as well as other medals throughout my years of running.

When at home, I spend time with my family and share the stories of that day with my mom, dad, and two sisters while watching Criminal Minds together.
